Hello!
I'm Katie. I'm a wife, a mother, an animal lover and an avid outdoors-woman. My passions are for serving others, raising my children, advocating for healthy, peaceful birthing, good nutrition, training horses and using essential oils. My passion for birth began when I got pregnant with our first child in 2010. I knew that I wanted to make the choices that would set me and our baby up for as healthy and peaceful of a beginning as possible. I embarked on a journey of learning about the design of pregnancy and birth that landed me where I am today...passionate and excited about a woman's God given ability to birth her baby with confidence! My excitement to support others through their journey was inspired by the positive birth experience I'd hoped for with our daughter. I had learned that peace doesn't come from being able to plan and execute every detail of the birth. Rather, a peaceful birth experience comes from an ability to surrender to the process and to have confidence in the design. I also learned what a positive difference the right kind of support can have on a woman during that process. So I obtained my DONA International Birth Doula Certification in 2013 and have been enjoying my work of supporting families toward their birthing goals ever since! My goal as a doula is to support people's needs emotionally, physically and in acquiring the necessary information to achieve their ideal birth for their family. I believe that the experience of bringing your child into the world is sacred and one that leaves a lasting imprint on one's family. I believe it's important for every person or couple to consider the significance of this occasion in their lives. It's my goal as an honored addition to the birthing team to provide assistance that seems subtle but is very beneficial. Not interfering with the intimate bond of the expecting couple, but rather working toward complimenting their unity through the process. Or being that gentle but constant companion a woman may need if she's journeying through her birth on her own.
Services and Fees:
I offer a free consultation to any new potential clients for us to meet and decide if I'm a good fit for you as your doula. I am available via phone, text or email to answer any questions I might be able to assist you with throughout the duration of your pregnancy. My clients are welcome to attend my childbirth class where I share ways to cope with labor that create a positive mental and physical atmosphere ideal for your body to give birth. We'll talk about comfort measures, ideal positions for labor and birth, and ways to communicate your wishes through a written birth plan. I will also meet with you during your last trimester of pregnancy to discuss your concerns, wishes, goals, your vision for your birth and how I may help you best. I will commit to be on-call 24hrs a day from two weeks before your due date until the birth. I will stay with you from the onset of active labor until the birth of your baby and remain with you for as long as is needed to help you establish your first breastfeeding if you desire. I can take pictures of your birth and your baby if you wish. I will meet with you for one postpartum visit to help process and finalize the birth experience. I can provide you with references for specialized care if needed. My fee for all my services listed here is $850.
